Ted Bevelacqua Obrien sales rep, videographer, lover of all things fun, and Sean O’Brien have been talking about doing a stand up paddle trip to see manatees ever since their last 5 mile SUP adventure down Weekie Wachi Springs.
We knew the conditions and timing would have to be perfect to make the most out of the trip. You see manatees, much like us Floridians, don’t like cold weather. They prefer water that is warmer than 68ºF, so when a cold snap comes through they make their way to the springs where it is a consistent 72ºF year-round.
One of the most prominent places to find these delightfully gentle creatures is in a small town called Crystal River on the west coast of Florida. Not only can you see the manatees up close and personal, it’s one of the few places where you are allowed to swim alongside the sea cows. Click here and check out the rest of our Sup adventure!
